Restaurants and bars in the village of Benifallet
We are extremely lucky to have 5 good restaurants in the village. All are family run and all 5 offer a different atmosphere with a wide selection of food on offer. They all serve good quality food and service although there are some that are better than others. I’ll leave the choice up to you. Most have English menus at hand for those of you who don’t speak any Spanish. We also recommend booking a table to prevent disappointment on the days the restaurants are open . Please note Xiringitos is the only restaurant open on Monday, lunch time only. However you can get a meal or snack at one of the local bars, Panxos, Cal Ferrer or Ca Treig with prior notice. Menu del dia’s are available in all restaurants, at lunch time, during the week from Monday to Friday for around 14€ a head and Pepo’s also do an evening menu del dia Tuesday – Thursday (this is approx. 3€ extra per meal). For those of you who need to catch up on social media, all our restaurants and bars have wifi access so while you have your meal, snack or glass of wine ask for the password. Or if you visit the local library, (Monday – Friday 1700-20.00) for a small cost you can use their internet on one of their computers.
ROSA MARI is a small restaurant/bar. The food is mainly cooked on a charcoal grill. The menu consists of a good selection of meat and fish alongside their starters & deserts. If you want to eat in a friendly and traditional Spanish atmosphere with good quality food and service then Rosa Mari is for you. Check out their recommended dishes, there is a fish dish served with a cava batter which is very good and I can also recommend their fillet steak. For those who have young children a play park is just outside.
XIRINGUITO has a very good A La Carte menu, alongside traditional Spanish dishes. We can personally recommend the fish paella. The service is very professional and quality of food here is superb and well worth the price. The restaurant seats approx 80 people and has a friendly, warm atmosphere with a modern touch of class. Both Xavi and Angel speak enough English to help with your order.
PEPO’s is also the only local Hotel. They have a very good choice of food on their menu a la carte, with traditional Spanish dishes and Charcoal grill. I highly recommend the Duck from the a la cart menu. They also serve menu del dia at lunch time Tuesday through to Friday. Some of the waitresses speak fairly good English so can help you with the menu.
CA MIGUEL is both a restaurant and tapas bar where you can sit in the open or inside to enjoy and share a selection of tapas with friends and family or enjoy a meal from their menu. They also specialize in vermouth, which is a local traditional fortified wine. Again Miguel speaks English to help you with the menu.
CA TREIG is a bar/restaurant run by a Romanian couple, Juanito speaks excellent English. Their menu consists of meats cooked on the brassa/BBQ or mixed plates from the kitchen. Very good service and reasonably priced. We also recommend their cooked breakfast for those who don’t want to cater for themselves (must be pre-booked). The bar is open early till late every day.
CAL FERRER is a small, friendly, family run bar. The food here is traditional Catalan tapa’s (highly recommended if you want to try something a little different), combination plates; ie sausage, chicken, pork chops ect.. all served with chips and also you can order snacks like filled rolls etc…. The service is warm and friendly. They also make a great jug of sangria. They also speak a little English to help you with your order.
BAR PANXO is in the main high street. There is a large sheltered seating area where you can sit in all weathers eating and drinking with friends and family. The bar also do a selection of tapas and snacks and if booked in advance, they also do mixed dishes of meat and chips. And for those who don’t speak Spanish, most of the staff here speak English.
KTF is one of 4 bars in the village which is open from 2pm until late. Based by the river, they have an outside seating area which is close to a mini play park for those who have small children. They are also the only disco bar in the village, so if you are here on any of the special festivals you can come along, normally free entry and dance the night away.
SHOPPING IN THE VILLAGE. For those of you wanting to self cater and shop locally, there is a mini supermarket in the village, a bakery and 2 butchers, so you should find everything here for your holiday stay. There are also two hair salons, both do nail treatments so if you wish to be pampered while you are here, this is possible providing appointments are available. There is a very small open air market every Thursday where you can buy fresh fruit and veg, fish and sometimes cheese, olives, cured meat and sausage. We have a village map in all three properties pinpointing where everything is. If you want to do a big shop during your holiday there are the big supermarkets in both Tortosa and Mora de Ebre; each are approx a 20min drive away. We can help you with directions.
LOCAL OPEN AIR SWIMMING POOL
For those of you who are staying in the village house or those wanting to swim lengths the village has its own large open air pool and a small infant pool which is open from 24th June through to the end of August. You can buy a day ticket at the pool bar for around 4€ per person. The opening times are Monday – Friday midday – 2pm and 4pm – 8pm Saturday – Sunday 11am – 2pm and 4pm – 8pm.
